About

For Dr. Mark Swain, MD, PhD, a career in neurosurgery was the only option when he began creating a path towards his goal of becoming a doctor. As a young boy living happily with his family in Miami-Dade, Florida, his life was rocked with the loss of his older brother, Eric, to an undiagnosed brain aneurysm one day as he played with his college friends in the beach. Since then, Mark had dedicated himself not just in learning more about the signs and symptoms of a brain aneurysm, but also how to prevent it and treat it, especially to high-risk groups. It was only natural that he would take neurosurgery as a focus from the moment he entered medical school.

When he’s not Mark Swain, MD, PhD, he is also an avid horticulturist who has his urban garden in his Boston home that he shares with his fiance, Patricia. He also runs marathons, takes part in community events, and even participates in fundraising events, particularly ones that target awareness about brain aneurysms and their risks. His Boston private practice notwithstanding, he continues to spend as much time as possible with friends and family, knowing more than anyone about the importance of making every moment count.
